The combination of bold design and expert craftsmanship resulted in a space that is sure to leave a lasting impression on all who visit the Saltbreaker Cafe.
Good Wood had the pleasure of working with Drafting Cafe Architects to bring to life an incredible vision for the Saltbreaker Cafe in Alameda Point. The architect, Ethan Anderson, had a unique and bold vision for the bar shelving that would be the statement piece of the cafe. The shelving was to be 14 feet of quarter-sawn walnut that spanned from the bar to the ceiling, in a compound diagonal format that overlapped both vertically and horizontally.
The challenge was to not only create a visually stunning piece, but also to ensure that it was functional and practical for the cafe's needs. Good Wood's team of expert craftsmen took on this challenge with enthusiasm, and the end result was a piece that was both beautiful and functional.
But the bar shelving was just the beginning of our involvement in this project. We also created a solid walnut edged bar-top, server station cabinetry, host station with a solid walnut waiting bench, booth seating, and tables throughout the space. Each piece was crafted with the same level of care and attention to detail resulting in a cohesive and stunning interior.
Although we haven't had the chance to visit the cafe since its completion, we're thrilled to have been a part of creating such a unique and special space. The combination of bold design and expert craftsmanship resulted in a space that is sure to leave a lasting impression on all who visit the Saltbreaker Cafe.
