There are a number of ways staff can get involved with sustainability initiatives at Queen Mary, and help to improve the overall environmental performance of the university.
Staff have access to number of discounts on food and drink at Queen Mary including Meat-Free Mondays and our reusable cup discount. Staff are also supported for engaging in sustainable travel on and between our campuses, including the Cycle to Work Scheme and regular bike maintenance sessions.
In addition to existing initiatives, we are also developing mandatory sustainability training for both new and existing staff to be launched later this year. This training will ensure that all staff are equipped with a general understanding of sustainability, the university’s sustainability objectives, their role in helping Queen Mary achieve these objectives, and advice for making more sustainable choices.
The Sustainability and Climate Action Network consolidates individuals across all areas of the university to discuss and action change for a sustainable future. We will be building a network of channels dedicated to different sustainability areas including waste management, biodiversity, education and curriculum, food and student voice.
